Well, how did we get here?, 'sips wine'
I’ve always thought about putting my thoughts down, creating something that’s just mine. And turns out all I needed was some wine and science to get me started!

Welcome to “Science Meets Wine”, a seed that flew into my world almost two years ago. Birthed by a deep search for community, but also from thinking about the kind of environments I want to exist in, as well as continue to create for myself. And well, here we are, learning to co-exist and co-create with these two beautiful thing. In many ways, this blog is an attempt to hold these ideas in one space.
Over the years, I started to notice how people around me, especially those who know me well, understand my love for wine. At some point, I decided to pause and ask myself a slightly dramatic question (as I often do 😆): why do I love wine so much, and what does that relationship actually mean to me?
What I found is that wine, for me, is of course about the drink itself, but also more about what it allows. Wine helps me create a space to slow down, to celebrate a friend's birthday, to sit with both the highs and lows of life. It is in those moments, in the act of pausing, that I feel connected to everything around me.
At some point, I started to see a reflection of myself in the process of winemaking. Coming from the dusty, beautiful rural landscapes in South Africa, I find comfort in the idea of ageing like fine wine, evolving and refining over time. My taste changes, my perspective deepens, and with each phase, I become a slightly different version of myself or not. Something is reassuring in that.
And then there is science;
Science has always been constant for me. It is the part of my life rooted in curiosity, the need to understand, to question, and the constant need to keep asking "why", and as a kid, leaving most adults not knowing what else to say. Science is not just what I study or do; it is a way of thinking that mostly shapes how I live my life and move through the world.
This space exists somewhere between all of that.
Between my love for science and wine, between structure and curiosity, between understanding and simply experiencing.
This blog is not about having all the answers. It is about exploring ideas as they come, following curiosity wherever it leads, and allowing different parts of life to exist together in a way that feels natural.
So here we are..
This blog is my playground, and a space to explore these loves with you.
Cheers to curiosity and all the places where “science meets wine!”
